Unit A: Life Science

In Chapter 1, students will learn that living things are different but share similar structures and how plants, animals, and protists interact. Students will learn how to classify organisms into correct categories.

Chapter 2 deals with cells, and how they work together to form systems. During this chapter, students will learn how to use a microscope. Students will also be assigned a project where they make their own cell. Chapter 2 leads into Chapter 3 where students will be learning about body systems. The students will be learning about body systems during health class.

In Chapter 4, students will be learning more about plants. We will be discussing how plant cells are different from animal cells. Once we move into Chapter 5, students will be learning about how plants and animals interact in an ecosystem. During this chapter, we will be discussing the different land biomes and water biomes. Students will work in groups to develop biome posters. The posters will display information about different biomes. Once we learn about the different ecosystems, we will move to Chapter 6 where we will learn about changes in ecosystems.
