Microsoft PowerPoint Projects

I really enjoy teaching my students how to use PowerPoint. For the most part I teach them the basics of PowerPoint by having them create a project for social studies or science. I have also taught students how to use PowerPoint to make games and create websites. Below you will find example of PowerPoints that my students and former students have created. Curious George Projects

When I taught second grade my classroom participated in an Online Project about Curious George with schools across the country. The projects turned out wonderfully. The students used Scholastic Keys to help develop their PowerPoints. Scholastic Keys makes it easier for younger students to learn how to use Microsoft products. The students did a wonderful job on their projects.

Blast Off With PowerPoint

This is the first year that I taught PowerPoint as an enrichment summer school class. Blast Off With PowerPoint was a summer enrichment program opened to students in grades 4 and 5 (though a couple of the students were 3rd graders). The students learned many features of PowerPoint such as Slide Transitions, Custom Animation, Inserting Graphics, Inserting sounds and music files, Action Buttons, and Recording Narration. The program lasted four weeks and by the third week the students were taking what they learned to develop Math PowerPoint Games. Click on a name to the right to see the game that was developed.

Power Up with PowerPoint

During the 2009 Summer School Enrichment Program, I once again taught students how to make games using PowerPoint, but this time we used the newest version of PowerPoint. I really enjoy using the new PowerPoint as you have a lot more options that the older program did not offer. The students in this class took off with developing an "All About Me" project, "State or National Bookmarks", "State or National Photo Albums", "State or National Concentration Game," and finally an actual game about a state or nation. The students did a great job on all of the projects. They really enjoyed learning how to use Microsoft Clip Art, sounds, inserting graphics they found on the Internet, custom animations, and creating hyperlinks. Webpage Designers

Also during the 2009 Summer School Enrichment Program, my second class learned how to use PowerPoint to develop a website. At first I was going to use Publisher (which does make a better website), but decided that the students could do more with PowerPoint. Also, many of them had already used PowerPoint, so they had an easier time developing their websites. The students in this class were able to chose a topic of their choice, but it had to be something that was academic. The topics chosen were: dogs, puppies, dragons, Iditarod, basketball, guinea pigs, rabbits, and earning money. Click on the links to be taken to their websites. Underneath the game is a link to a game. Each student was allowed to create a game to go along with his/her website.
