Bulletin Board Ideas

This bulletin board helped our class keep track of how many pages each group had read. These pages had to be read outside of school. Parents had to sign a sheet stating how many pages were read. Each group had to read 1, 049 pages (from Anchorage to Nome). If the groups read 1, 049 pages, they were able to participate in an ice cream party to celebrate.

This is the bulletin board where our class kept track of our mushers' progress. This year we followed Jeff King (Who won!!!) and Ed Steilstra ( www.natureskennel.com  ). We also used this map to learn about the checkpoints.

Located out in the hallway, students and teachers could see what we were doing in our classroom. The students made character maps of Little Willy (pictured on the left) and character maps of Stone Fox (not pictured). On the other side the students had made their own posters announcing the dog sled race from the book Stone Fox (not pictured).

Here are close-ups of the Little Willy Character Maps. Each group drew and described Little Willy by working together.

This bulletin board is located between my room and the next door neighbor's classroom. The poster came from Cabela's Iditarod. Each year they give free posters to classroom teachers. The sleds were made with Mrs. Easter's 7th grade classroom from Columbia Middle School. Click here to see pictures of the sled making with Mrs. Easter's classroom.
