On this webpage
you will find items that I have used in my second grade classroom. Many
of these ideas were used during our Internet project called
Chocolate Stories. There are different activities and even ideas for
literature units. Feel free to use the ideas on this webpage in your
classroom. Please to not change any of the worksheets, as these
worksheets were developed by me and are my property. If you find
mistakes, please let me know and I will correct them. |

From Cocoa Bean to Chocolate
During the first week of our chocolate unit, we read the book From
Cocoa Bean to Chocolate by Robin Nelson. Before we began reading our
story, the students worked on an Anticipation Guide. They were allowed
to work with their groups. The students also worked on finding
information in informational texts by completing comprehension
worksheets. During this week we also worked on steps in a process. Click
on the Kisses below to link to the worksheets that I have developed for
this book. |

Choco-Louie
Also during
the second week, I had the rest of the class read the book Choco-Louie.
This book is also about a little boy, Louie, who loves
chocolate too much. His brother bets him that he could not last a
whole week without eating chocolate. If Louie can last a whole week
he wins his brother's skateboard. Click on the links below for
worksheets that I developed for this story. |

The Great
Hershey Kisses Mix-up
This is a file folder game to work on synonyms. The students have to
match the Hershey flag to the correct Hershey Kiss. To assemble, cut
out the Hershey Kisses and glue to a file folder. Glue flags to tag
board. Laminate the file folder and flags. You are then ready to
place in a center. (Click on the Kisses) |

outside of school to find out what their favorite candy bar was. We
